FUTA Holds Orientation For Newly Admitted

The vice chancellor, professor Joseph Fuwape of the federal university of technology Akure has charged the newly admitted students to uphold a strong academic culture which the school is known for. The vice chancellor gave his charge during an orientation program organised for the 3500 newly admitted students into the 2017/2018 academic session.

Professor Joseph Fuwape in his words said”the university places premium on discipline, orderliness, focus, integrity and diligence which are hallmark required for your success. You must therefore be found worthy in character and learning at the end of your studentship before you can be awarded a degree.”

The vice chancellor also added in his words that FUTA is a specialised university with the mandate of advancing the cause of technology in Nigeria and its product are known for blazing the trial in various fields of human endeavours. He urged the students to abide by the rules and regulations governing student’s conduct and keep off activities that will not contribute positively to their future.

Professor Joseph said the university is commuted to the vision of being one of the best universities the world and encourage the students to make good use of the various facilities and academic if resources to ensure a successful academic sojourn.

In the same vein, the Dean, students affair, prof. Gbenga Onibi enjoined the students to be law abiding, responsible and diligent. He said the onus of realising their ambition lies solely on them and the effort they put into their academics work. Prof. Gbenga said ” The choice you make today will therefore very important because they will determine your tomorrow.”

He ensured the students that the university administration will ensure optimum provision of basic amenities and conducive environment to enable them perform excellently throughout their duration of study.

The Dean admonished the students to act wisely and smartly and to organise their selves in sensible ways in order to actualise their purpose of study.

The Dean of post graduate studies ( SPGS) and chairman, commitee of Deans, prof. Moses Ajewole in good will  admonished the students to diligently follow the academic routes mapped out by department, lecturer and other organs of the university.

He reiterated the readiness of the university to support the actualisation of their academic pursuit.

Speaking on the topics: The emergence of the FUTA brand: Ethos, Core value and Academic excellence Prof. David Oke, said FUTA has evolved from a humble beginning to become a global player, in patnership and cooperation with many great institution around the globe.  He advised the students to put in their own contributions to improve ranking of the university in the league of top universities in the world. The orientation featured drama, film show, selected lectured on relevant topics and visit to important places on campus.
